"Error 678 & 679" Error Message When You Try to Connect to Your ISP

678 - There is no answer.
679 - Cannot detect carrier

This error can occur if:

You are dialing the wrong number
There is a problem at your ISP or in the telephone network
Your modem is unable to handshake with remote modem before allotted time

 

1. Verify the access number is working properly.

 

2. Check dialing rules >> Area code is correct.

 

3. Run a HyperTerminal Test to check Modem.

 

4. If Hyper Terminal Test Passes Dial number with regular phone and make sure you hear remote modem answer tones.
 

5. Delete RASMAN and Reboot the System. Then Delete and Create a New Dial Up Connection.

 

6. ADD the STRINGS AT&F&C1&D2+MS=v34,0 or AT&F or AT&F1 or ATZ.

 

7. Check for Line Noise.
